So lil man has a surgery coming up Friday. He has a condition called strabismus...specifically esotropia. For him, this means his eyes can look crossed at times but what's happening is that he only uses one eye at a time to focus on objects so he doesn't get a full clear picture when he's looking at things. This is actually a neurological issue.
The only option he has is surgery because there is no surgery that can fix the part of the brain that controls vision. There is a 70% chance that this surgery will be all he needs. If he's not in this category, he could need additional surgery. IF more surgery is needed, it could be needed soon after this surgery, in a few months, a few years, or many years down the road.
He's currently slated to be there at least overnight, but if he does really well, the anesthesiologist could send him home the same day. We'll see. He hasn't had any luck thus far with being released right after surgery. But it never hurts to hope.
We will be able to see a difference immediately after surgery. There will be an "uncomfortable" recovery period as well as red eyes for a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed for a good outcome!
Prayerfully,
Roseanda
